ALTERED STATE COFFEE is an independent coffee roasting company in Portland Oregon. ALTERED STATE is unique in the indie roasting business because we infuse CBD and THC into our coffee grounds. The different ratios of THC to CBD give each roast a different experience. Our top notch coffee beans, imported from expert growers in Ethiopia and multiple countries in South America, adhere to fair trade regulations so that our growers are compensated ethically. We also make sure every grower is Rainforest Certified. Oregon was one of the first states to legalize Marijuana. This has created a culture of acceptance and creativity among dispensaries. The people interested in the cannabis culture come from all areas of life. However, because weed was illegal for so long there is still a counter culture, and novelty stigma associated with the drug. ALTERED STATE would like to be perceived by the people of Portland as hip, edgy, counter culture, unafraid, and bold with psychedelic influences. The solution was to create a brand where the letter mark and colors were lightly inspired by the 60s psychedelic posters. The treatment of the type on the packaging is bold and has a certain illusion to it. This branding and packaging design is a current twist on psychedelic art, that creates an interesting user experience that exaggerates the experience of getting high.
